At the first startup he joined, Flatiron Health, he saw the important role venture capital played in its outsized growth. From his time practicing and operating in startups, he was convinced that venture capital was the vehicle to drive the innovation healthcare technology so direly needs, and ultimately create a new standard of care delivery for patients. A long-time champion of the “Doctorpreneur” community, Brenton immediately felt at home with Lightspeed’s like-minded doctors on the Healthcare investment team and physician entrepreneurs within the portfolio such as with Abridge and Aledade. Corporate Vice President, Health and Life Sciences
Microsoft Corp
I have spent over 20 years across multiple sectors of healthcare, ranging from clinical to commercial, health policy to technology. I am attracted to roles that drive growth and change, and to missions that apply innovation to improve the state of our healthcare industry. I have returned businesses to growth by transforming portfolios, aligning across organizations, and building strong teams. I execute strategically. That means I design the strategy if there isn’t one, refine it if it’s not quite right, socialize it so everyone is clear on the north star, identify competencies and metrics for organizational rigor, and operationalize it so we execute successfully. I am accountable for results, and proactively manage the P&L with an eye on top and bottom line growth. I build a culture that empowers others to be accountable, while having fun. I have demonstrated success navigating complex organizations, and have made a career out of driving change from within the extra-complex ecosystem that is healthcare. I have found that doing so requires a high level of optimistic fortitude. Consider me a happy warrior for change.

Dana Strauss, PT, DPT, Lead Director, Public Policy and Government Affairs, CVS Health
Lead Director, Public Policy and Government Affairs
CVS Health
From clinician to healthcare policy expert, my journey began as a Doctor of Physical Therapy with a passion for solving problems beyond individual patient care. While working in home health, I developed a program bringing total joint patients to home care instead of inpatient rehab, generating significant revenue and better outcomes. This experience revealed my ability to create systemic change. A defining moment came when I encountered a terminally ill patient with pancreatic cancer receiving daily therapy while in excruciating pain because the system incentivized billable units over appropriate hospice care. She died just 12 hours after I finally secured hospice services for her. That day, I committed to addressing the broken incentives in our healthcare system.
