Biography

David is the co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of Valera Health, a venture-backed digital healthcare company that empowers healthcare organizations to better manage chronic medical and mental health conditions. Valera engages patients in their care using smartphones while making providers more efficient, thereby increasing the quality of care while decreasing costs. David is also a psychiatrist at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), where he conducts research on how digital data could help clinicians predict suicidal thoughts and behaviors. He is a Soros Fellow, a Horatio Alger National Scholar, and a Blavatnik Fellow in Life Science Entrepreneurship at Harvard Business School. He graduated from Harvard College with an honors degree in neurobiology and earned his MD MBA from Harvard Medical School and Harvard Business School. He volunteers as the Director of Entrepreneurship for the US China Health Summit, and he is an adviser to multiple startups and accelerators. His writings have appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine.
