Geary Shares What Drives Him to Invest in Healthcare
Few VCs have been investing in health IT companies longer than Bill Geary, cofounder and partner of Flare Capital Partners, one of the more prolific investors in this arena.
In this podcast interview, Geary, who serves as co-chair of the Digital Healthcare Innovation Summit, explains how a very personal – and ultimately traumatic – experience with the healthcare system made a permanent impression upon him.
Geary says he taps into that experience as he assesses every potential investment in companies that promise to improve patient care and lower healthcare costs.
This insight has enabled him to build a powerful portfolio of healthcare technology investments.
That investing experience aids Geary in helping to develop the program for the November 30 Digital Healthcare Innovation Summit in Boston. Robert Mittendorff, MD, of Norwest Venture Partners, serves as our other co-chair.
In this interview, Geary hits upon a few highlights from the daylong agenda including a highly anticipated conversation between two leaders in artificial intelligence – Atul Butte, MD, PhD, of University of California, San Francisco and Isaac Kohane, MD, PhD, chief technology officer, SVP of engineering at Harvard Medical School.
