Biography

Joe Hammer leads the North American Life Science and Healthcare practice for CIBC Innovation Banking. CIBC Innovation Banking is a trusted financial partner to entrepreneurs and investors, delivering flexible financing solutions at each stage of the business cycle, from start up to IPO and beyond.

Previously, he was the Managing Director of Silicon Valley Bank’s Life Science and Healthcare Corporate Banking practice, working with middle-market private and public companies across the U.S. Prior to SVB, Joe was the Chief Development Officer at a life sciences subsidiary specializing in business process outsourcing for orphan drug, biopharma, and medical device manufacturers.

Mr. Hammer graduated from GE Healthcare’s Financial Management Program and GE Corporate’s Experienced Commercial Leadership Program with distinction. He served as Chair of BioForward, Inc. (Wisconsin’s Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) and Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) Affiliate) and was a speaker at the New York Stock Exchange’s Life Sciences IPO Summit. Joe lives in Boston; he enjoys discovering new bands, seeing live shows, and hiking with his wife and two children.
