Elizabeth Nabel, MD

Dr. Betsy Nabel is president of Harvard-affiliated Brigham Health — an academic medical system which includes Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, and the Brigham and Women’s Physician Organization. Her leadership hallmarks include greater interdisciplinary and cross-industry collaborations, patient-inclusive care, and innovation in personalized therapies and translational medicine. As former director of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, Dr. Nabel established pioneering programs in genomics and stem cells, founded the Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases, and launched the Red Dress Heart Truth campaign. Her research on the molecular genetics of cardiovascular diseases produced 17 patents and more than 250 scientific publications.
